About FSE
Laura Luque-Carey and Katie Satterthwaite are highly proficient food safety and hygiene specialists with a strong passion for their industry. They have extensive experience in auditing and coaching food and drink manufacturers across the globe. Known for their collaborative approach and pragmatic mindset, Laura and Katie work closely with sites to implement sustainable improvements that will strengthen long-term food safety performance.
With a combined experience of over 38 years in the food industry, including 23 of those years shaping the standards at M&S, they offer unparalleled understanding and practical experience of food safety and integrity risks in both manufacturing and retail environments. This places them in a unique position to deliver engaging, high quality and impactful support in the form of audits, training and consultancy.
Katie has worked in the food industry since 2006 – spending the last 11 years working for M&S as a Factory Standards Manager. Here she was responsible for setting the company’s food
and has spent the last 12 years working for M&S as a Factory Standards Manager where her main responsibilities were to develop the M&S global Food Safety manufacturing standard; bring on new suppliers through pragmatic onboarding audits; deliver high quality Technical training to suppliers, technologists and graduates; and troubleshoot food safety, quality and integrity issues.
Laura has a wealth of experience supporting food and drink manufacturing sectors across the globe. She is particularly skilled in working collaboratively with sites to drive improvement in practical factory standards, especially relating to foreign body controls, hygiene/Listeria management, and allergen management.
Laura is vice-chair of the Campden Manufacturing Operations MIG.

Katie is a Chartered EHP and currently sits on the CIEH Food Safety Advisory Panel.
